Hi all, just wanted to pop in to say the votes have been tabulated for Twisted Core Press’ 2013 Debut Author of the year award, and…….
I didn’t win.
BUT thanks okay!! I am blown away by the sheer volume of support I received. Being an artist can be a scary and daunting thing. You have to put something– be it a story, a piece of music, a photo, a dish, etc– on display for the public at large to either embrace with both arms, or tear down with both hands. I don’t take the fact lightly that I was even nominated for this award or the huge amount of support you all showed me. For everyone that voted and a helped me round up support through social media, email, and personally spreading the word, I thank you!

I have to say, when we decided on open voting for reader’s choice, I had a simple hope of the readers seeing their opinions mattered. I never expected to have the pulse-racing feeling of watching something so captivating. The rush of support, the constant pace of support was not only entertaining but beautiful. In a digital world with millions of choices, it can be easy for an author to feel like a dime a dozen. These readers represented so much more than a number. We live in a time where nobody has time for anything. Every moment is rush hour. Each of these voters live in that world. Still, they stopped and went to a website to show their support. It may seem like a simple gesture, but if you step back and look at all the things we tell ourselves we don’t have time for each day, this is a big deal. It was one heck of a poll to run down neck and neck into the final hour. You are fantastic authors and this poll screamed it to the world. That’s winning. Now we want more to read! 🙂

So true Shelly. It was a good race in that writing was at the forefront of people’s thoughts for a while. This process forced me to reach out to people & share my passion of writing & my accomplishment at having been published earlier this year. I was amazed at everyone’s support & heartfelt congrats they gave me. I met new readers & got connected to aspiring authors. It was awesome!
This award went so far beyond me. I’m blessed to have been a part of it in so many ways.
